Laherte Freres rise to the top of the grower Champagne movement has been meteoric.
The young Aurèlien Laherte is recognised as one of the brightest young minds in the region. Since taking control of his family's vines on the slopes to the south of Epernay, Aurèlien has received wide acclaim for his exquisite, laser-focused cuveés and is considered one of the most exciting producers in the region.
He has adopted organic vineyard practices and a traditional approach to winemaking, opting for large format barrels for ageing and using a classic wooden press - making wines in a style reminiscent of the grower Champagnes of the 1950s.
This is a blend of Pinot Meunier made in three ways. Sixty percent of the fruit is pressed off immediately making a base white wine, thirty percent is saignée Rosé, and ten percent is made as a full-blown red. It's aged in barrels in a variety of sizes, culminating in a delicious, complex sparkling Rosé that is outstanding value for money.
