A single site Shiraz Mataro blend comprising 60% Mataro and 40% Springs Hill Shiraz from the 'Springs Hill Vineyard', Blewitt Springs.
This is a wine we simply could not ignore entertaining when it came to the offer of some Mataro from Springs Hill. Having seen this Mataro through a different lens previously we knew of its quality and immediately both thought… a Shiraz/Mataro!
A barrel selected blend of these two single vineyard wines. The Mataro and Shiraz components were made separately and blended post maturation.
A definitive wine for us and one that truly speaks of Springs Hill Vineyard. Lovely fresh tar note, blue fruits and licorice. There's a sanguine element, meaty, a touch of coal with new leather and generous fresh primary fruits as well. The tannins are firm, savoury and coal-like, generous in a medium stature to support the plumper fruit express
