Product Details

Clarendon Hills Astralis Shiraz 2014

The Clarendon Astralis is produced in the award winning McLaren Vale wine region.

Clarendon Hills is a small family run winery based in Clarendon, South Australia. The company, founded by biochemist Roman Bratasiuk in 1990. The story of Clarendon Hills is one of passion, dedication and commitment to exceptional wine. It all began when the biochemist and wine lover decided to produce his own wine. Though he’d never trained as a winemaker, Roman let himself be guided by his refined palette and scientific knowledge. Following his favourite producers and preferred styles, Roman sought to make a version of the wines he loved.

Cola, dried spices, menthol and blueberry notes all appear on the nose of the 2014 Astralis Syrah. A massive yet approachable wine, it's full-bodied and creamy-textured, with a rich, velvety finish that picks up awesome savoury notes of anise, cracked pepper and roasted meat. It's simply a terrific wine that may be drunk soon or held up to two decades. Date: Sept 2018; Drink: 2020-2035; Rating: 97 Points; Joe Czerwinski; Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
