Almost uninanimously voted as the top Chardonnay on the day, and the only import for our finalists. This classic style of Chardonnay hails from the famous Stellenbosch region of South Africa. Impressing the panel with its richly layered profile, offering aromas and flavours of apricot, coconut, and orange peel, followed by notes of marzipan and sponge cake. The palate is generously textured yet finely balanced, with well-judged oak adding depth and complexity. A bright thread of acidity lifts the wine, providing freshness and drive. With an aging potential of over eight years, this Chardonnay is both immediately appealing and built for graceful development in the cellar.
